CNN features a story about natural hair at the Bronner Bro.s show in ATL...

Atlanta, Georgia -- There were plenty of Crayola-colored wigs and long, silky extensions displayed at the 64th annual Bronner Bros. International Hair Show, which drew more than 60,000 stylists, hair enthusiasts and exhibitors who work with black hair this past weekend.

Yet against the backdrop of energetic hip-hop music and among the booths stocked with glossy tubs of chemical relaxers, some black women went back to basics: They wore their own natural hair. ( excerpt from www.cnn.com)

Reader Question: 2010 Natural Hair Show

Hey guys and gals! Just got a reader question from NaturallyME that I thought you all might want to know the answer to. So here it is!

Where can I get information for the 2010 show? Do you know where it will be held?

I enjoyed it so much last year that I am sure I'll probably go back. Here's what I found:

Ha! I was so busy snapping shots of them..I guess someone got one of me!
I think I was buying some Curly Buttercream for my mom and a photog took this (#10/47). There were cameras EVERYWHERE and there's no telling where people might end up out there in cyberspace!
Check out number 46 and 47. It's the same lady so I guess it's a before and after shot. Pretty cool.

Another Hair Show!!!

I know that for many of you the hair show in ATL was out of reach in terms of location. According to naturalhair 58 (thanks!) you might have another opportunity to go to one.

"There's a Natural Hair Show in Baltimore, Maryland scheduled for April 25-26 at the Pikesville Armory. This will be my first."

More from the 2009 World Natural Hair Health and Beauty Show

Hey guys and gals! I'm back in NC feeling refreshed! (even after a 6 hr drive from ATL!!) I got to spend some time with my oldest little brother and the hair show was pretty cool! It was amazing to see so much natural hair in one place! There were so many beautiful heads of locks, curls, coils and kinks in all different shades and shapes. Vendors were selling products and passing out fliers all over the place. In addition to hair stuff, there was a plethora of skin products, jewelry, clothing, shoes, and beautiful artwork. I literally had to tell myself to just walk away from some booths. We are in a recession and I had to remind myself of that from time to time!

It was really affirming to see natural beauty in its many forms. It felt so nice to look around the room and see all textures and There were stylists, models, musicians, singers and poets. I even saw some people I know from blogs or other online avenues like the beautiful Kinky Rhonnie, the one and only Curly Nikki (who was working her booth by the way!) and PRETTYDIMPLES01 from You Tube (ok so we don't "know" each other but I really like her vids, lol)! I loved the fact that there were men, women and children of all ages in attendance. There were even some straight-haired gals there too (which was cool!).
I am really glad I was able to go this year and I plan to return next year, hopefully for both days.

Hair Show Update...

Well, I don't have any pictures up yet from the natural hair show but I was able to find this pic online of a tee I got from the Uncle Funky's Daughter booth. I think it's really cute! Mine is yellow instead of white which I'll post later in an official ATL Natural Hair show update.

Also, the lovely ladies Titi and Miko from Miss Jessie's were there doing consultations and selling product for 1/2 off! They are so cute in person and look just like their site pics. And let me just say their booth was PACKED!!!! It was Miss Jessie's madness. I'll post some pics of them later!
My mom happens to be a natural that LOVES the Curly Butter Cream so I scooped her up a 16 oz jar for half the price (which we all know is not cheap!). She will be happy...it's a surprise ;D
