July 2011 Build Photos

I have been receiving some great build photos lately! On the left is a photo of John George who built my Death Eater Mask #3 to wear to the opening of the final Harry Potter movie (kinda reminds me of Doctor Doom ^^). On the right is a build of my Sam's Identity Disc (Tron: Legacy) by my DA friend Wylf who enhanced the papercraft with some clear plastic and el-wire. Keep up the good work guys!

Harry Potter Papercraft: Death Eater Mask #9

With the release next month of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2, the Harry Potter movie series will be at an end. To celebrate that bittersweet event, I am adding one final paper model to my Death Eater mask series. As usual, the download includes both full size and half size templates for the mask. Links to the previous eight Death Eater mask are located in the column at the left of the page. Thanks to everyone who has supported the mask series since I began in 2009.

Harry Potter Papercraft: Death Eater Mask #8

Around Halloween last year I released a series of seven papercraft Death Eater masks. I am adding an eighth mask to the set this year as I patiently wait for the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie to be released in November. :) As with the previous masks, there are both full size and half size templates available. Both sizes are included in the zip file which can be downloaded here. If you missed the previous Death Eater masks you can take a peek at them here.

Death Eater Mask #1 Build Photo

Gregory Belland sent me this excellent build photo of my Death Eater Mask #1 papercraft. Greg told me he built the mask for a friend then took this photograph which he entitled Death Eater Prepares. Seeing this photo makes me want to do some more Death Eater masks. ;) Nice work Greg!

Here is the final mask in the Death Eater mask series. Some officially licensed product manufacturers list masks similar to this one as "Bellatrix's mask" while other sources indicate that a mask design like my papercraft Death Eater Mask #1 is the mask of Bellatrix Lestrange. If there is a Harry Potter fan out there who can clear up this discrepancy, please let me know. :) The template for Mask #7 may be downloaded here.

UPDATE 7/15/2011: This is no longer the final mask in the series! ^^ There are now Mask #8 and Mask #9.

Only one more papercraft Death Eater mask to go in the series after this one... This mask is based on a photograph of a metal mask like mask #3. Full size and half size templates are available here. In case you missed the five previous masks, they can be found through the following links:

Five masks down and two more to go. Like Death Eater masks number one and two, this mask is based on a drawing rather than a photograph. The picture above really doesn't do justice to the intricate detail that can be seen in the PDF template of the mask. The drawing this papercraft is based on may have been done as a preliminary design by whoever built the metal mask that Death Eater mask #3 was based on. As usual, there are full size and half size templates available for download here.

Another papercraft Death Eater mask is finished! This one is based on what appears to be a photograph of a painted ceramic mask. My goal is to complete a total of seven different masks, so this one puts me just over halfway through the series. Download the template for mask #4 here.

Another papercraft Harry Potter Death Eater mask is complete. This one is a little different than the previous two Death Eater masks in that the image used to make the model is a photograph of an actual metal mask rather than a line drawing. The ornate patterns on the original metal mask were very nicely done by whoever the craftsman was. A download of the template is here.

The second mask is finished in the papercraft series I am doing on Death Eater masks. This one is a little less ominous than the first one. As with the first mask, this papercraft is based on artwork which can be found at the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix movie website. I won't bore you with size information this time as it is the same as the last mask. Download the template here.

The official movie website for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix contains a "Death Eater Art" section where you can download an "art kit" with example images of Death Eater masks meant to inspire you to create your own art. It just so happens that several of the images in the art kit work nicely when applied to my Kanonashi Mask template. So here is the first of what I hope will be several different papercraft Death Eater Masks. Death Eaters are the devoted followers of the dark wizard Voldemort, the prime enemy of Harry Potter throughout all the books in the Harry Potter series.

Update 10/13/09: More papercraft Death Eater masks are available here.

Harry Potter Paper Toy

This Harry Potter paper toy doesn't look very happy. Then again, if I was an orphan and a dark wizard tried to kill me every year, I suppose I might not be very happy either. This papercraft Harry was created by Gavin Schmidtt at robotmartini.com using the blank "Briki" template. Briki paper figures were developed to be used in an open source multi-player tabletop combat game known as "Arena". To get the above paper toy and Arena game rules, go here.

Harry Potter Papercraft - Golden Snitch

As any Harry Potter fan knows, the Golden Snitch is magical winged orb used in the flying broomstick game of Quidditch. In the book Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, Harry wins a Quidditch match by catching the Golden Snitch in his mouth. This papercraft version of the Snitch was designed by UK papercrafter Mark Green (a.k.a. paperart) as a gift for his nephew. The template, which includes a display stand, is available here.
